General Managers Comment

Welcome to the Agri-feeds web site.

One of the pillars of our marketing programme is a commitment to supporting the development and presentation of Farmer and Distributor animal nutrition information and education resources. Our marketing and technical teams have done a great deal of work to both update and develop new resource materials to support the farmer resource programme. Most of that information is imbedded in this site and more is on the way.

Things are definitely improving in the New Zealand Dairy sector. Global dairy product prices are up and Fonterra has announced the total payout forecast in the range of $6.90 - $7.10 per kgMS for the F10/11 season. Almost more important, the season starting advance payment is $4.30 per kgMS which is above most dairy farmer cash costs so that will ease some of the working line pressure from the banks and enable the farmers to do a lot more in the nutrition space this season. The $2.90 per kgMS last year was very tough on the farmers, the cows and all concerned.

Our bread and butter is liquid animal feed mainly focused on imported molasses. Having said that, our most exciting initiative currently is the roll out of a new calf rearing system based on a dry calf feed called RumenX. The system is an adaptation of a system developed in Argentina and has some very interesting benefits for both dairy and beef farmers in New Zealand. Have a look at the RumenX section of this site or call 0800 424 743 to get someone to explain what it can do for you.

To our suppliers, customers and distributors, we thank you for your ongoing support and may the 2010/11 farming season treat you well.
